Did you know that if you donate to the Hockey Alberta Foundation, you could be helping to provide a child with the opportunity to play hockey?
The Hockey Alberta Foundation launched the Every Kid Every Community (EKEC) program in 2011. The goal of this program is to ensure that every child in Alberta who is interested in hockey has the opportunity to play or experience the sport.
So how do we get the funds?
The Hockey Alberta Foundation hosts special events such as the Golf Classic Presented by ATB Wealth, Pickleball, and Glencross Invitational Charity Hockey Tournament. We also accept donations or other contributions to the foundation from individuals, organizations, or companies that become part of the Every Kid Every Community Donor Club. In addition, a number of events have Every Kid Every Community as their charity of choice, including the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame, and organizations like the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (Every Kid Deserves a Shot) and Flames Foundation.
Where does the money go?
Money collected from these donations and events goes towards the Every Kid Every Community Grant.
The Community Grant gives money to create or support a program that is focused on bringing new players to the sport regardless of any barriers that they may face. Grants are awarded $5,000 per year per group.
